Donegal PEACE III Group to visit Messines in Belgium and the Somme in France

Donegal County Council ‘Hands of History’ project, facilitated by Fort Dunree Military Museum / Inishowen friends of Messines (FD/IFOM) are preparing a group of Donegal people to visit the First World War Western Front this May to study Ireland’s involvement in that war, and the lessons to be learned for building peace and conflict transformation in Ireland today.

 

‘Remembrance ,Reconciliation, Renaissance ,Learning through our Shared History’ is a peace and reconciliation programme based around studying the shared experience of Irish people in the First World War, and looking at what we can take from that experience to help us build peace and good relations on our island today.
