Donegal County Council has been happy to take a lead role with all the partners on the County Development Board.

Donegal County Council in common with other local authorities throughout Ireland was given responsibility for co-ordinating and facilitating the establishment and operation of County Development Boards.  For this purpose, the Council set up a new Community, Culture and Enterprise Unit, which has been directly responsible for providing this support.  This Unit is now an integral part of Donegal County Council’s activities.

The CDB has enabled us to continue and to undertake key areas of work in an integrated and co-ordinated manner.  This work includes ongoing updating of the Donegal Unemployment Task Force Report, working with relevant agencies on the North West Gateway Initiative and work on the Gateway Innovation Fund.  The CDB is also overseeing key pilot initiatives such as the Integrated Children’s Services Committee.  Donegal is one of four pilot areas in this initiative, which is being led by the HSE with support from all CDB stakeholders.

I wish to thank all elected members, various divisions within Donegal County Council, the Local Development Agencies, the State Agencies Social Partners and Community and Voluntary Sector for their work and contributions to the work of the CDB and implementation of the County Strategy .  We are involved in delivering a realistic implementation plan, which is being delivered to agreed timetables and within available resources.  Without this the Strategy would have no credibility and will be viewed cynically as another one of those elaborate plans that remained on the shelf.  Each of the partners gave a clear commitment that this would not be allowed to happen and the outputs being achieved are testimony to their commitment and effort.

Fáilte – Mícheál Mac Giolla Uain

Bainisteoir Contae, Comhairle Chontae Dhún na nGall

Tá Comhairle Chontae Dhún na nGall sásta go bhfuil ról tosaíochta glactha acu leis na comhpháirtithe go léir ar Bhord Forbartha Chontae Dhún na nGall.

Tugadh freagracht comhordanáideach agus éascaíochta do Chomhairle Chontae Dhún na nGall, i gcomhpháirtíocht le húdarais áitiúla eile i nÉirinn, chun Boird Forbartha Contaetha a bhunú agus a fheidhmiú. Chun seo a chomhlíonadh, bhunaigh an Comhairle Contae an Rannóg Pobail, Cultúir agus Fiontair atá freagrach do sholáthar seirbhísí go díreach. Tá an Rannóg seo mar príomhchuid de ghníomhaíochta Chomhairle Chontae Dhún an nGall.

Bhéarfann an BFC an chumas dúinn leanúint ar aghaidh agus na príomh oibríochta a chomhlíonadh ar mhodh comhtháite agus comhordaithe. Níthear nuashonrúcháin leanúnach ar Tuairisc Tascfhórsa Dífhostaíochta Dhún na nGall, obair le gníomhaireachtaí ábhartha ar Thionscnamh Geata an Iarthuaiscirt agus obair ar Chiste Geata Nuálaíochta. Tá an BFC ag maoirsiú ar príomh threoirthionscadail mar an Coiste Seirbhísí Leanaí Comhtháite. Tá Dún na nGall ar cheann de na ceithre limistéir ins an tionscnamh seo atá a stiúradh ag an HSE le tacaíocht ó pháirtí leasmhara an BFC.

Is mian liom buíochas a ghabhadh leis na baill tofa go léir, leis na ranna éagsúla taobh istigh de Chomhairle Contae Dhún na nGall, leis na Gníomhaireachtaí Forbartha Áitiúla, le Comhpháirtithe Sóisialta Gníomhaireachtaí Stáit agus an Earnáil Pobail agus Deonach ar shon an obair agus tacaíocht d’obair an BFC agus d’feidhmiú an Straitéis Contae. Tá muid ag obair ar phlean réadúil a chomhlionadh a bheidh a sheachadadh de reir tráthchlár aontaithe agus acmhainní infhaighte. Gan seo ní bheadh creidiúnacht ag an Straitéis agus dearcaithe go soiniciúil mar phlean saothraithe eile curtha ar leataoibh ar an tseilf. Thug gach páirtí tiomantas shoiléir nach gceadfaidh seo tarlú agus tá an méid bainte amach go dtí seo ina fhianaise de na ndíogras agus de na ndícheall.
