The Renewable Energy Network (REN NET) project has been awarded €390,047 under INTERREG IVA Programme, Priority 1 Co-operation for a More Prosperous Cross Border Region, Theme 1 Enterprise – Business Networking. The project lifetime is 39 months commencing 1st March 2012 and completing 31st May 2015.
The REN NET project partners are the North West Region Cross Border Group (NWRCBG) – lead partner, Donegal County Council – lead implementing Council, Derry City Council, Limavady Borough Council, Magherafelt District Council and Strabane District Council.
On the 27th July 2012 the REN NET Project held its first Steering Committee meeting. Representatives from each of the five Councils, the NWRCBG and from InterTradeIreland, Invest NI, Enterprise Ireland and the Donegal County Enterprise Board make up the committee.
The Renewable Energy Network (REN NET) aims to establish a formalised business network for small businesses working in the renewable energy and green economy fields, with the aim of increasing vitality and profitability for those companies.
The project team are currently looking to recruit members for the Renewable Energy Network and will be targeting:
- Small/micro businesses or individuals engaged in renewable energy or the green economy or those wishing to get involved in this growing sector.
- Farmers interested in diversifying into renewable energy e.g. growing energy crops.
- Those involved in the construction industry, contractors, plumbers, electricians, architects etc looking to gain insight into how the green industry will develop and how they can compete.
