WIPL participation at Centre for Cross Border Studies Conference 27/28 Oct 2011
14 November 2011
Women into Public Life (WIPL) presented at a major international cross border conference recently in Cavan. The conference, Cross-Border Training and Impact Assessment in Ireland and Europe, was organised by the Centre for Cross Border Studies.
Noirin Clancy (WIPL Project Co-ordinator) gave a presentation on the work of the project, and Mary Doherty (Carndonagh) and Rosie Doherty (Derry/Londonderry) spoke about their experiences of participating in the WIPL Going Public training programme. There were also presentations on health training and business mentoring in the Irish border region, teacher training in the Czech-Polish border region and intercultural training in the Upper Rhine region. The highlight of the conference was the launch of the Impact Assessment Toolkit for Cross-Border Cooperation, developed jointly by the Centre for Cross Border Studies and the Euro-Institute in Kehl, Germany. This will be a very useful planning tool for cross border projects.
WIPL is a regional partnership of three women’s organisations of which Engender is one. The others include Second Chance Education Project for Women (Donegal) and Foyle Women’s Information Network (Derry/Londonderry) with Donegal County Council as the Lead Partner. WIPL is funded under the EU’s INTERREG IVA Programme, which is managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (www.seupb.eu).
