| Aran Quin
|
I’m from Donegal Town, and I go to the Abbey Vocational School. I got into the Youth Council when I was in transition Year, didn’t make it through the initial votes, but eventually made it in. Really would recommend for people to run in next election cause its really been worth it. |
| Áine Duffy |
I go to Colaiste Cholmcille in Ballyshannon |
| Tiarnan Neill |
I’m from the Donegal electoral area. I go to St. Catherine’s Vocational School in Killybegs. I was elected to the DYC when I was in transition year. I decided to run for the Youth Council when a previous Youth Councillor told me what a great experience it was. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to meet new people and actually do something useful for their area. |
| Rachael McNulty |
I go to Colaiste Cholmcille in Ballyshannon. Since joining, it has been one of the best experiences of my life! The Donegal Youth Council has lead me to meet so many new and amazing people. The DYC is an amazing group. I never would have thought so many people would want to help Young people, to know what they are thinking, Young peoples opinions and how to make their lives easier. |

| Bridget Corry | I go to school in the Finn Valley College, Stranorlar. I joined the Youth Council because I felt that I could help improve the lives of young people in Donegal. The Youth Council is a great experience and it has helped me become involved in projects I would never have known about. I also feel the Youth Council has helped me become more aware of problems in the county which young people can help change. |
| Christopher Kelly | I attend the Royal and Prior, Raphoe. I thought it would have been hard for me to settle in at the start because I was the only person elected from my school but everyone was lovely and welcomed me in straight away! |
| Katie Porter | I attend Deele College in Raphoe and I am curently the Depty Mayor of the Donegal Youth Council. I joined DYC when I was in 3rd year. I wanted to become more involved in my community and have my opinions heard. I like getting involved in lots of different projects and helping out the other members. I have learned so much form joining the Youth Council and I have had so many unique opportunities. I really enjoy working with DYC because everyone’s so nice and we always have great craic at meetings. It’s a brilliant thing to do if you’re in any way interested in community work or projects. |
| Shaun McMenamin | I go to St. Columba's College in Stranorlar |
| Denholm McDermott | I go to St. Columba's College in Stranorlar. I chose to join the Donegal Youth Council because I wanted to make a difference to the lives of the young people in Stranorlar and also Donegal. |
| Glenties Electoral Area Youth Councillors | |
| Karl Doherty | I attend Rosses Community School in Glenties. I put my name forward for the Donegal Youth Council because I wanted to be a voice for young people all around my area. The council is a great experience and the youth councillors grow as people over the two-year long period and you make a lot of new friends. |
| Jamie Mac Uiginn | I attend Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair and I have been elected as the Donegal Youth Council Representative on the Dail na nÓg council. |
| Katie Molloy | I go to St Columba’s Comprehensive in Glenties. I ran for DYC when I was in transition year, it was a very hectic time we got a great buzz from it, between going around school and making posters and trying to get a vote anyway we could! When we went for our first day away as and introduction to DYC it showed us how to go about campaigning and making ourselves heard! I knew after that day that I really wanted a place in DYC so thankfully from great support from my school and friends and various different people I was fortunate enough to be elected on to the Donegal Youth Council. Donegal Youth Council gives you the opportunity to get involved and create things, and we would not have that chance without the Donegal Youth Council. |
| Farah Tianihad | I go to PCC Falcarragh . I was elected for the youth council while I was in transition year. All the projects we get involve in are so much fun and we learn so much from them. So far, the youth council has been a great experience. |
| Mikie Lennon | I go to PCC Falcarragh. The youth council is great fun and it’s a great way to get involved with young people all over Donegal. We get to meet lots of different people from different parts of the country from lots of amazing organisations |
| Michael McDevitt | I attend Gairn Scoil Chu Uladh. My electoral area is Glenties. I love being on the DYC. It is so much fun and mad craic. We also do loads of work and I’ve been involved in some great mental health projects. I’ve met great people on DYC |
| Inishowen Electoral Area Youth Councillors | |
| Rónán Gildea | I attend Crana College in Buncrana. |
| Sally Byrne | My electoral area is Inishowen. I’m go to Carndonagh Community School. I wanted to become a Donegal Youth Councillor because I thought it would be good craic and that maybe we’d help the young people of Donegal at the same time. I have met a lot of people and learned a lot since joining the council and it’s been a lot of fun too. |
| Leanne McLaughlin | I go to Moville Community College in the Inishowen electoral area. I ran for DYC when I was in transition Year because a teacher has told me how good of an experience it would be. Honestly I am so glad I ran for the Donegal Youth Council, it is without doubt one of the best experiences of my teenage years. The people are so much craic, and we all gel well together! We have done several projects within the DYC to help and interest the Young People of Donegal from Mental Health to toilet facilities. It feels so chilled at meetings its not at all what I expected it to be and we all have the best of craic! I would highly recommend the DYC to any young person interested in joining even if you are hesitant it will make you far more outgoing and outspoken and I advise them to go for it! |
| Ellen Lavelle | I am from Buncrana and attend Crana College. |
| Caolán Gallagher | I go to Scoil Mhuire which is in Buncrana. |
| Domhnaill Harkin | I’m in 6th year in Scoil Mhuire, Buncrana and I hope to go to UCD in Dublin when I am finished. I decided to go for elections for the youth council after I heard about it through my teachers. They told me how we get to represent young people in Donegal and help get young peoples opinions heard. I have always had an interest in representing young people so I thought this was for me. So I decided to go for election and got elected. The DYC itself is great craic and is much better than what I expected, they even elected me Deputy Mayor for the first year. While we do have some serious stuff to cover we always have a good time and I have been away on many trips with the DYC which is great. I have had a great time in the youth council. |

Any of you who are part of the LK electoral area might remember my neon pink ‘BE COOL, VOTE O’TOOLE’ slogan! Youth council is such a great experience and I’ve met so any people and made so many new friends through it. Getting up on Saturday mornings is almost worth it when you know you’ll get the chance to meet up with everyone and have the craic. Not to mention all the opportunities to take part in things we normally wouldn’t have the chance to do. It’s most definitely a worthwhile experience. |
| Jane Gormley | I go to Loreto Convent Letterkenny and I wanted to represent the young people of my area as well as have the craic with other young people from Donegal. |

| Molly Bonar | I attend Loreto Letterkenny and ran and was elected to the youth council during Transition Year. One of my main interests is education. Seeing what we need to change and what we can actually change. Another is health, in general, mental and physical. To help young people in my community and to give a voice to those people who have great ideas and nobody to tell. Everyone’s great craic, and the county meetings are always fun. I’ve gotten to meet loads of cool people and be involved in projects I wouldn’t have even heard of without the youth council. I would recommend it to every young person interested in doing something positive and rewarding. |
| Marli Kerr | I go to Errigal College which is in Letterkenny. |
